Woodlea badminton club was formed in 1984 by a group of friends as they progressed from beginners to improvers along with an experienced local player who helped them get organised.

 

Woodlea derives its name from a school, Woodlands, near the original club venue along with inspiration from Chelmer Lea. Woodlea was built on an ethos of inclusion rather than elitism which is why the club accepts junior members.

Many of the clubs strongest players have graduated from the clubs junior ranks to help establish Woodlea as a successful club throughout its history. Our club has always promoted social events to help bring people together outside the confines of the badminton courts to form strong bonds that underpin our teams and help differentiate us from other clubs in the area.
